About the Role

As a Safety and System Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe operation and implementation of our ammonia/hydrogen systems. You will be responsible for analysing, designing, and implementing robust safety protocols and standards for the storage, transport, and utilisation of ammonia/hydrogen. Additionally, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise system performance, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs and protocols to ensure compliance with
industry regulations and standards.
• Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses for complex systems, identifying potential safety hazards
and implementing mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, project managers, and operations
personnel, to incorporate safety measures into system designs and processes.
• Perform system-level safety analysis, including Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure Modes and Effects
Analysis (FMEA), and Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessment.
• Lead safety reviews and audits, providing recommendations and ensuring corrective actions are
implemented.
• Define system requirements and specifications related to safety and reliability, working closely with
internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
• Stay up to date with industry best practices and emerging safety technologies, proactively recommending
improvements to enhance system safety and performance.
• Provide technical expertise and support to resolve safety-related issues and incidents, conducting root
cause analyses and implementing preventive measures.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to promote a culture of safety awareness and compliance
throughout the organisation.
• Maintain accurate documentation of safety procedures, reports, and incident investigations.

Requirements

Essential Knowledge/ Qualifications


• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related field.

• Professional certifications in safety engineering or system safety (e.g., CSP, CSE, CSSE).

• Proven experience as a Safety and System Specialist, preferably in a high-risk industry or complex system environment.

• Strong understanding of system engineering principles and practices.

• Experience with safety analysis techniques, including FTA, FMEA, and SIL assessment.

• Proficiency in safety management systems, risk assessment methodologies, and hazard identification

techniques.

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail.

• Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with the capability to work effectively in crossfunctional

teams.

Desirable Knowledge/ Qualifications


• Knowledge of sustainability, clean energy technologies, and safety related to fuel cell systems.

• Proficiency in using relevant software tools for safety analysis and risk assessment.

• Knowledge of safety regulations and standards, such as OSHA, ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or equivalent

• Familiarity with safety-related software tools and applications
